$3,000+ failed within weeks™"still not repaired

I purchased this KitchenAid ice maker for more than $3,000 and had it delivered on July 21. It was installed about a week later and worked for only two or three weeks before completely failing. I called Kitchenaid the following Monday and was told that the 30-day return period had expired just two days earlier. A service technician eventually came out and diagnosed a faulty part. It then took approximately three weeks for the replacement part to arrive. When the technician returned, the part was missing a required connector, so the repair could not be completed. I am now being told I must wait until September 28 for another visit. I also contacted KitchenAid through its online chat. They apologized but said the most they could do was ask the servicing company to try to expedite the appointment. They offered no replacement, meaningful escalation, or other resolution. A brand-new premium appliance should not fail after only a few weeks, and a customer should not be left without a functioning product for more than 2 months because of repeated service delays and an incomplete replacement part. Based on both the product failure and the warranty experience, I cannot recommend this ice maker.

We bought this icemaker to replace an Electrolux model that broke and was unable to be repaired. Unfortunately, the pump apparently failed less than 30 days after it was put into service, and was just replaced. Hoping that this unit has no further issues and remains in service for many years, but only time will tell. That being said, I can now contrast this model versus the previous brand for comparison. First, the quality of the ice isn™™t quite as nice - the Electrolux created very clear cubes, and on this unit the ice is not so clear. However, the ice that is generated is fine regardless. As for quantity, this unit surpasses the other and easily keeps the bin full. The design features are nice and the controls are well integrated and easy to use. The other brand vented at the bottom front, but this unit vents in the rear and tends to generate more heat from around the enclosure. Fingers crossed that it ends up being a reliable appliance for us going forward.

Unreliable product/ D&G Warranty is a scam

My icemaker is about three years old. It had a pump failure year one which was replaced under warranty. It stopped working again at the end of two years and kitchen aid steered me to buy an extended warranty from D & G. Now Kitchen aid will tell you that D&G is a separate company and they have no control over their decision. D&G will tell you if they can't fix it they will replace it only if Kitchen aid tells them to do so. I have been paying for the extended warranty for ten months and there have been at least a dozen visits from different techs, For the last six months three different techs have said it was non repairable yet kitchen aid/D&G just sends out a different company. My icemaker has been totally dead for six months and I just get the run around. This icemaker is garbage and the extended service plan from D&G is a scam. Buyer beware.

I bought ice maker Aug 2025 a month later it started making such a loud noise it was impossible to watch tv I would cut it off when I was at home Whirlpool sent 2 different real nice repair men 4 times in 4 months they were not able to repair it Finally Whirlpool decided to replace it with a different model The new one seems to be working well I had to have my wife stay home and meet repair men 5 times over 4 months It should not have taken that long to correct the situation

We bought this through Costco Direct. A very good way to buy with delivery, installation, haul away and an extra year of warranty included in the price. Very nice dishwasher and this particular model is good value for the features and price. Quiet, easy to use and works great. The advanced dry feature is particulary good.

this is our second/fourth Kitchenaide ice maker (my dad had 2 also). the last one died per the technician due to a ™main board™ going out. Anyway, we tried a Koolsomething that made the ™nugget™ ice. Not good for whiskey and NOISEY as all get out. Cheaper but it got sent back. Ordered this one, came in dinged and apparently previously hooked up but I knew how to fix the hookup issue and the ding was on a back corner™¦no issues. Quiet, good wet ice, good to have it in the kitchen again.

1st one I had leaked into the cabinet destroyed all the wood - took forever to get a service tech to fix - multiple times after that had issues and parts needed ordering, etc CONSTANT PAIN IN MY BUTT finally just died but took 3 months for service techs to deem it non-repairable - finally got a new one and after 2 days it stops working...You can't make this stuff up...short in the power line - THANKS KITCHEN AID
