14 months and already needs repair

Miltrainer 4/1/2026

I had gas dryer installed in late December 2024. Now it makes a sound like the solenoid is starting to go out. It was extremely difficult to find out the warranty. Only 12 months is a short time. It is only used a couple times a week. Used by empty nesters. Not happy with how short it went before needing repair.

Pretty average

Rick 3/1/2026

I was replacing and 11 year old whirlpool washer and dryer. The dryer was fine but the washer started to be very noisy in the spin cycles. Rather than repair, we decided to replace. Cosmetics review - We wanted a matching set and went with the models we were told were matching sets (dealer and whirlpool website). Except they are not matching except the control panel looks the same. The washer has a grey tinted top where as the dryer is white. I would have preferred a regular white top on the washer. The washer is also about an inch lower than the dryer which also gives the appearance of not matching. You don't see this because they don't have every model on show room floors. Mechanical - As I said, our dryer was fine but decided to replace it so the washer and dryer matched. Only have had the dryer a few weeks and it seems to dry as well old one except it is much noisier. Its not overbearing but is very noticeable. We do need to keep the laundry room door closed or the noise can compete with the TV sound.

Title doesn't give what was delivered yesterday

Rose 2/7/2026

We just got installed for the dryer one day ago. It is NOT a top load dryer. Settings for what is being placed in the dryer is confusing and very noisy. We need to get used to a very different type of dryer but it will sure take time. Right now, I feel like I want my old one back.

Works very well. I DO NOT LIKE that the top is not flat. If you leave anything light on the top while running, it literally wiggles off. Most folks do not have a large laundry room and space is important. This curved top is not practical.

Dries large loads

Shitzu mom 11/13/2025

So far so good. I appreciate the large capacity of this dyer which is why i chose it. It dries quickly and can handle a king size comforter and large dog beds. The lint trap is on the top which makes a huge mess on top of the dryer after every load so this gets annoying. All the reviews for the steam cycle that i read said while using this option it leaks. I have never used it on my old dryer and didn™€™t think i would on this dryer so that didn™€™t pertain to me. Unfortunately my husband decided to use the steam option and just like all the other reviews said it leaked water all over the floor. Not sure if this is an installation issue as we purchased this at home depot. We were told by the salesman they would replace the dryer duct work. This was never done as the installer could barely speak English and the other guy with him spoke no English. He simply told me we dont do that and handed me the dryer ductwork. The installer rushed and banged into moulding, doors and whatever else was in his way. I would never purchase an appliance like this from home depot again. The dryer itself works quickly and is easy to chose a simple drying cycle. It also did not come with an owners manual and the one posted online is completely useless! After paying almost $1000 i would at least like to know how to use it and troubleshoot. Apparently the company cant be bothered with including a few sheets of paper for a booklet. The dryer door is so thin im afraid closing the door too hard may bend it. They just don™€™t make things like they used to.

This dryer is amazing l

JackieJingles 10/21/2025

Originally ordered an electric dryer. However it took 4 hours to dry a king size bed spread. I had 48 hours to change my mine and decide if I wanted to keep the electric dryer. I called the store where purchased and they delivered to me a Whirlpool gas dryer to compliment my Whirlpool washer! This dryer is AWESOME! It totally dries a king size bed in 50 minutes! I am truly very happy with this dryer! The drum is quite large to help with wet clothes dry quickly! Controls are easy to operate.

So far so good. The unit is large and dries everything well. My only issue is, there were no instructions on how to flip the door from left hand to right hand opening. I figured it out but after I flipped it, the latching mechanism seems to be somewhat misaligned making the door difficult to close.

Opportunities for Improvement(?)

Helpful1 8/26/2025

Delivery: 1. New dryer installed. Would not start. 2. Retailer delivered replacement. 3. Sliding dryers in & out tore recently professionally installed luxury vinyl floor. Usage: 1. Major retailer and its recommended installer did not know that the dryer™€™s door is reversible. 2. Whirlpool™€™s labeling, advertising and owner™€™s manual does not indicate that door is reversible. 3. After a a few days use and close inspection revealed that there was tape over optional holes leading us to conclude that the door is reversible. 4. Found online useful independently produced video and completed switch in less than 30 minutes. Very helpful for our home. Whirlpool™€™s Feedback: I carefully and politely wrote describing how the door™€™s designed ability to be reversed should be well known by its resellers. Additionally Whirlpool should put a prominent label on the unit describing this ability for customers and prospects. The website and owner™€™s manual should promote this ability and how to easily accomplish it. Whirlpool did not respond to these suggestions.

leaks by design

larry 5/5/2025

It's a dryer, okay. And as a dryer it does as well as the $200 one it replaced. I purchased it to match a new washer that did need replaced. I wanted a matched pair and liked some of the "extra" features this model had, like steam refresh. HOWEVER, the first time I tried this feature the unit leaked. I tried it again and again it leaked, from the bottom of the front door. It did not leak from the hose connection. The unit was less than two months old and Whirlpool did send out a repair person. He pointed out that the water jet sprays onto the door and the door does not have a watertight seal. It is a design flaw, not a malfunctioning unit. His advice was to put a towel under it when I was refreshing only a few garments or use the cycle only on a full load.

Useless Steam Option

Susan 46307 4/29/2025

We bought this March 7 and after using it for about one month I had to touch a shirt up so I used the steam option it left a puddle of water on my floor in front of the dryer. I spoke with the salesman that sold it to us and he set up a service call The repairman came and asked about how many items I had in the dryer when I used the steam option I told him ONE The problem as he explained was I needed to have more items in the dryer to prevent water from the STEAM OPTION from puddling on my floor. What a useless feature if it spews water onto my floor. My Whirlpool from 2011 didn™€™t do that while using STEAM OPTION. POOR DESIGN.
